Underdogs went 1-1 on the first day of WNBA postseason action, as the New York Liberty won outright vs. the Chicago Sky 98-91, and the Las Vegas Aces handled business at home covering 79-63. In what is just a three-game series, both remain in the same city, as elimination games will get underway starting at noon on Saturday.

New York Liberty vs. Chicago Sky, 12:00 PM EST
Despite no one scoring more than 21 points, the Sky had a balanced attack in Game 1 as Kahleah Copper led the way with 21 points. Outside of Emma Meesseman, who struggled on the night, all other starters finished with at least 13 points. The bench, however, got them in trouble as only Azura Stevens had more than 2 points.
In Game 2, I expect the Sky to key in on Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu and make the rest of the team beat them. Look for the Sky to get back on track at home, forcing a Game 3.

Phoenix Mercury vs. Las Vegas Aces, 9:00 PM EST
Already without stars Skylar Diggins-Smith and Diana Taurasi for this series, the Mercury dropped another star in Game 1 as Shey Peddy left the floor in the third quarter. From there, the flood gates opened as Ace’s Kelsey Plum led the way with 22 points on the night.
With just seven players now who see regular time, expect the Mercury to fold early as the Aces get another big win and cover as they march on to round two.
