Last year, the Men’s Draw of the French Open started with one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the tournament, as No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev matched up against 14-time winner Rafael Nadal, who had announced it would be his last time ever playing at Roland Garros. No man won more titles at a single major than Nadal, as the next closest to his 14 French Open titles is Novak Djokovic’s 10 Australian Open championships.
With Nadal no longer competing, the Men’s Draw at Roland Garros seems much more wide open. There have been three different winners in the last three years (Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Carlos Alcaraz), but will there be a fourth different winner in as many years?
Read on for our top three picks for the 2025 Men’s French Open winner.

Top 2025 French Open Winners Picks: Men
Carlos Alcaraz (+110)
There has not been a repeat Men’s French Open champion other than Rafael Nadal since Brazilian Gustavo Kuerten won back-to-back titles at Roland Garros in 2000 and 2001. But all signs point to Carlos Alcaraz being the next dominant clay court player, especially since his recent Italian Open victory in Rome finalized his capturing of every major clay court title that exists, and he did so at the young age of 22.
Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the only two players in the Men’s Draw with odds shorter than +1400, and Alcaraz just beat Sinner 7-6, 6-1 in the Italian Open final a few weeks ago. While Sinner displayed some dominant tennis in that run to the finals (he bageled Tommy Paul and Casper Ruud in two different sets and had two set points against Alcaraz), the fact that he is still not far removed from a three-month suspension makes his odds seem too short.
Alcaraz improved his 2025 ATP clay court record to 15-1 with the Italian Open title, and if he and Sinner meet in the Roland Garros final, the Spaniard can look to his four straight head-to-head wins over the Italian for confidence. Alcaraz is just the fifth man to win all three Masters 1000 clay events, and he is the rightful favorite to defend his French Open title.
Alexander Zverev (+1800)
Our second best bet for the Men’s side of the French Open is none other than last year’s runner-up, Alexander Zverev. A wager on Zverev is a great value play despite his subpar performances in clay tournaments as a lead up to Roland Garros.
Zverev bowed out in the Round of 16 in Madrid to Francisco Cerundolo and in the quarterfinals in Rome to Lorenzo Musetti. But we have seen time and again that a five-set format changes the equation dramatically. Last year alone Zverev topped Holger Rune, Alex de Minaur, and Casper Ruud on the way to the finals, where he lost an epic five-set battle after holding a two sets to one lead over Alcaraz.
Zverev is not the favorite to make it out of his quarter, but his five head-to-head victories over Novak Djokovic, including a 2-1 record in the last three matches, should give him confidence if the two do meet in the quarterfinal.
Lorenzo Musetti (+2800)
With Alcaraz and Sinner being such heavy co-favorites, it makes sense to round out our best bets portfolio with a player who wouldn’t face either of those two until the semifinals at the earliest.
Lorenzo Musetti’s odds skyrocketed after being placed in the quarter that he was, as he was placed with several American players (Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Sebastian Korda, etc.) that have not had much success on clay in their careers. Conversely, Musetti lost in three sets in the Monte Carlo Masters final to Carlos Alcaraz, and is arguably the most accomplished clay-court player in his quarter.

I wanted to back Jack Draper’s chances for a deep run, and he was as short as +2000 before the draws came out. But after Draper was placed in Jannik Sinner’s quarter with potential landmines against Gael Monfils and Hubert Hurkacz along the way, backing Musetti at +2800 odds given his much clearer path to the semifinals is the smarter play.
