Sunday’s Best MLB Picks & Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Athletics vs. Seattle Mariners

The Athletics are set to pitch Jacob Lopez tonight. The left-hander has been tremendous over the last month. He’s struck out more than 30% of batters and has allowed just a .094 ISO and wOBA of .220 to his previous 93 batters faced.

In addition, he’ll take on a Mariners projected lineup that has hit a .170 ISO and wOBA of .260 against lefties in the last 30 days. Those batters have also struck out close to 30% of the time against lefties over the previous month. Beyond that, the Mariners’ lineup has walked only 4.2% of the time against lefties. It’ll be hard for Seattle to even get base runners tonight.

Meanwhile, Lopez will battle one of the league’s best in Logan Gilbert. Gilbert has struggled against righties over the last 30 days. Yet, he’s still limited lefties to a .077 ISO and wOBA of .260. Gilbert has also struck out 25.5% of batters over the last 30 days.

Today, he’ll take on an Athletics lineup that has been hot at the top, but inconsistent at the bottom. Jacob Wilson just returned from the Injured List. In addition, Lawrence Butler, Darell Hernaiz, JJ Bleday, and Brett Harris all have low wOBA numbers against righties. That won’t be helpful against Gilbert.

Let’s take the Under 7.5 in this one.

Pick: Under 7.5 Runs (-115)

Cincinnati Reds vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

We’ve got an exciting pitching matchup in Arizona.

Brady Singer will take the hill for the Reds and face Zac Gallen of the Diamondbacks.

Singer has allowed a .087 ISO and wOBA of .260 against his last 113 batters. However, he’s in line to face an Arizona offense that has still collectively hit a .235 ISO and wOBA of .358 against righties over the last month. Arizona will certainly battle to put some runs on the board.

It’s hard to say the same about the Reds. Cincinnati’s lineup has hit a .122 ISO and wOBA of .292 against righties over the last month. This lineup has just two batters hitting a high ISO and wOBA against righties over the previous month. Plus, the Reds’ lineup has walked just 7.3% of the time against righties in the last 30 days.

Gallen hasn’t been perfect. He’s not getting a lot of strikeouts. But he’s still minimized damage. He’s given up a .149 ISO and wOBA of .299 to his last 122 batters faced. He’s also added 46.4% of ground balls during that time and has allowed 21.6% of line drives. Gallen should be fine against the Reds today. Ride with Arizona.

Pick: Diamondbacks Moneyline (-130)
