Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants
There are no postseason hopes for the San Francisco Giants. However, with a win today, they’d finish exactly 81-81.
They’ll battle McCade Brown of the Rockies, who has a 7.54 ERA without a win this season. He’s also allowed a .171 ISO and wOBA of .380 to his last 94 batters faced. Ultimately, he has struggled against lefties more than righties, and the Giants should have more lefties than righties in the lineup. As a matter of fact, the five lefties in the San Francisco projected lineup have hit a .196 ISO and wOBA of .342 against righties over the last month.
On the other hand, Logan Webb will close out the season for the Giants. The right-hander has been terrific and he’s not the reason the Giants are about to finish the season .500. Over the last month, he’s limited his previous 122 batters to a .098 ISO and has induced nearly 52% of ground balls. Webb is in line to face a Rockies lineup that has really struggled over the last month.
They’ve hit a .112 ISO and wOBA of .266 with nearly 30% of strikeouts against righties over the last 30 days. Webb should finish out the year strong and help the Giants earn a win by multiple runs.
Pick: Giants -1.5 (-142)
Minnesota Twins vs. Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies won’t earn the top spot in the National League. Still, they’re certainly looking to close out the season on a high note before the playoffs begin.
Cristopher Sanchez will get the start for Philadelphia. The left-hander was absolutely sensational this season. Over the last month, he’s held his last 126 batters to a .098 ISO and wOBA of .244. Even better, he earned close to 70% of ground balls over the last month and allowed just 10.9% of fly balls.
Over the last month, the Twins have struggled to find any power against lefties. That should continue today.
Meanwhile, the Twins are set to pitch Simeon Woods Richardson. The right-hander has actually allowed a .161 ISO and wOBA of .337 to his last 35 righties. This season, against 452 batters, he’s given up a .173 ISO and a wOBA of .320.
The Philadelphia projected lineup has hit a .199 ISO and wOBA of .365 against righties over the last 30 days using the projected lineup. Philadelphia looks much better on paper.
Pick: Phillies -1.5 (+102)
