Monday’s Best PrizePicks Player Predictions
Webb isn't a strikeout machine, but he was pretty consistent throughout the month of August. He struck out at least five batters in five of his six starts. Tonight, he takes on a Chicago Cubs lineup that has the 12th-most total strikeouts in the league.
Webb doesn't have too much history against this lineup. In 64 at-bats, he has recorded 17 strikeouts, but 27 of those at-bats and seven of those strikeouts were against Cody Bellinger. Yet even with limited experience against the rest of the lineup, we like this over because Webb consistently pitched 5.0 innings or more. He has gone that deep in seven consecutive games, and in 27 of his 28 starts this season. With that consistency against a strikeout-prone lineup, take the over.
Walker has struck out a combined 13 batters in his last two games, but in the two games prior to that, he struck out a total of four. While Walker certainly has the potential to pitch deep into the game tonight, longevity doesn't always equal success for him. He has 119 strikeouts in 142.1 innings pitched, which means he will probably have to go at least 5.0 innings to hit this number.
His career numbers against the Padres are solid, but he hasn't struck out many. This lineup has a .178 lifetime batting average against him, however they have only struck out 20 times in 90 at-bats.
This is a really low number, but it's hard to justify taking the over. In 21 at-bats, France has struck out only one Texas Ranger in his career. This season, he has just 86 strikeouts in 116.0 innings pitched, and he has thrown fewer than four strikeouts in two consecutive games.
France is inconsistent when it comes to strikeouts, which generally makes his over or under a tough play. But this is a bad matchup for him. After all, the Rangers are just 15th in the league in total strikeouts.
