New York Mets vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

Eduardo Rodriguez has looked sharp to begin the season. He’s allowed a .000 ISO and wOBA of .200 with 60% of ground balls and only 17.1% of fly balls allowed. However, he’s also struck out just 17.4% of batters this season.

Last season, Rodriguez added just 20.6% of strikeouts against 694 batters. He’s not a heavy strikeout pitcher and will face a Mets projected lineup that has struck out only 17.6% of the time against lefties dating back to last season. Rodriguez might get through five or even six innings. However, five strikeouts will still be difficult.

Nolan McLean has become the face of the Mets’ pitching staff. The young pitcher has added 29.3% of strikeouts this season and struck out close to 30% of batters last season. He’s set to face a Diamondbacks team that should have at least four batters with a strikeout rate of at least 25.1% since last season. That should be enough for McLean to add at least six strikeouts.

If one player can get a hit off McLean, it’s Corbin Carroll. Since last season, Carroll has added a .298 ISO and a wOBA of .388 against right-handed pitchers as a left-handed batter. So far this season, McLean has allowed a .190 ISO to lefties and has fallen behind against lefties a little too much. Carroll could take advantage and add a hit.

Kansas City Royals vs. Chicago White Sox

The White Sox are rolling with Anthony Kay tonight. Righties have tattooed the left-handed pitcher to begin the year. He’s struck out 12.9% of righties, walked 16.1% of righties and has allowed a .308 ISO with a wOBA of .386 against righties to begin the season.

Maikel Garcia is a right-handed hitter who has earned a .222 ISO and a wOBA of .420 against lefties dating back to last season. He should do damage at the top of the order.

Bobby Witt Jr. hasn’t been elite against lefties dating back to last season. But he’s still added a .169 ISO and wOBA of .384 against lefties during that stretch. Witt has hit 59.4% of hard contact against lefties with a team-best 13.2% barrel rate against lefties since last season.

It’ll be Seth Lugo pitching for the Royals tonight. The right-hander has added a high strikeout rate against righties, but only 18.2% of strikeouts against lefties. It was the same story last season, too, where he struck out more righties than lefties.

The White Sox’s projected lineup has only four right-handed batters. The other five batters are lefties. Ultimately, the righties in the White Sox lineup have struck out just 18.3% of the time. The lefties have struck out more, but that likely won’t be the case against Lugo. He’s added just 7.1% of swinging strikes against lefties this season. Take his under to close out this parlay.
