(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Lauri Markkanen Over 26.5 Points (-106)
Lauri Markkanen has scored at least 35 points in three consecutive games. He’s seen an uptick in usage over the last two games and has attempted 21.5 shots per game this season. In addition, he’s hit n3early 48% from the field and 38.5% from deep.
Markkanen will battle a Lakers team ranked 29th in points allowed to power forwards. The Lakers also rank 30th in three-pointers allowed to power forwards. Look for Markkanen to get plenty of enticing looks from downtown. All he has to do is make his shots, which he’s done as of late.
Ultimately, Markkanen scored at least 27 points in 62% of games this season. He’s also nailed this line in six of his last 10 games.
Jordan Walsh Over 5.5 Rebounds (-125)
Jordan Walsh is starting to get more minutes in the Boston rotation. The Boston power forward has earned at least six rebounds in six consecutive games entering tonight’s matchup against the Nets.
Walsh just saw 15 rebound chances in his last game against the Clippers after he played a season-high 33 minutes. In addition, he’s earned at least 13 rebound chances in two of his previous three games.
Those chances should continue tonight against the Nets. Brooklyn ranks 29th in total rebounds allowed to power forwards this season.
At the end of the day, Walsh isn’t in the game to score points. His usage is super low most of the time. He’s there to do the little things, like rebound. That keeps him in the game. With a matchup against the Nets, let’s take advantage.
Jusuf Nurkic Under 9.5 Points (-108)
Let’s head back to the Utah Jazz game. Jusuf Nukic played 38 minutes in a double-overtime game against the Chicago Bulls and only scored five points. His usage rate dropped to 8.7% and he took just six shots in 38 minutes.
Beyond that, the Utah center has shot 38.8% from the field and has hit only 12.8% from downtown. Centers are typically efficient. But not Nurkic. Plus, Milwaukee ranks first in the NBA in field goal attempts versus centers. They’re also limiting centers from getting to the foul line.
Don’t expect Nurkic to get many opportunities to score. The Jazz have a bunch of players who can score at a rapid pace. Nurkic isn’t one of them.
