A massive 12-game NHL slate is set for puck drop on Saturday. We’ve got a ton of betting markets to explore, but in this picks preview, I’m strictly targeting NHL player props.
We swept the board during the previous NHL Player Props & Picks: Saturday (10/31) Halloween edition. Steven Stamkos sailed over 3+ shots on goal against his former team at plus odds, while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins’ 2-goal night easily cashed his 1+ Points prop at -125 odds. Jake DeBrusk was held without a point during the Canucks’ 4-2 loss to the Maple Leafs, settling one more win at -120 odds.
I’ve got 3 of my favorite NHL player props to tail before Saturday’s busy NHL calendar gets underway. Follow me on X @Matt_MacKay for more betting analysis and free picks.

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Shane Pinto 1+ Points (+100)
Shane Pinto has been a steady force on Ottawa’s offense. The Senators’ second line forward, who skates additional minutes on the second powerplay unit, enters Saturday’s game against the Mammoth with a five-game point streak, including 4 goals.
Utah goaltender Karel Vejmelka is struggling to defend the net right now. He’s allowed 3+ goals in 5 straight starts, including 5 to the Flyers in his past appearance.
Pinto is a huge value to finish with 1+ Points at even odds (+100) at home against the Mammoth.
Matthew Schaefer 1+ Assists (-111)
I’m going to pivot to the 1+ Assists betting market for the Islanders’ leading point scorer, Matthew Schaefer. He may only be 19 years old, but Schaefer is a certified stud defenseman, recording 15 points, with 11 assists, through 15 games played in 2026.
Saturday’s game against the red-hot Devils will certainly test Schaefer’s skill set. However, he earns over 27 minutes of ATOI split between the Islanders’ top defensive pairing and primary powerplay unit.
Jake Allen is expected to start in net for New Jersey. He just gave up 5 goals in his last start and has an .886 save percentage.
Bet on Schaefer to finish with 1+ Assists at a solid -111 price against a stout defensive team like the Devils.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins 1+ Assists (+100)
I’m running right back to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Since he’s -215 for 1+ points in a great matchup against a porous defensive team like the Canucks on Saturday, the 1+ Assists prop market is the only viable play on Nugent-Hopkins.
The Oilers’ 16-year veteran forward is fresh, only playing 8 games this season, but he’s recorded at least 1 assist in 3 of his previous 5 starts. Nugent-Hopkins has recorded an assist in 5 of 8 total appearances.
Nugent-Hopkins is likely to set up scoring possessions on the Oilers’ primary powerplay unit alongside stars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. He’ll face Leevi Meriläinen, who has a 3.56 GAA.
It doesn’t get much better than this matchup. Bet on Nugent-Hopkins to record 1+ Assists at even odds (+100) during Saturday’s final game from Edmonton at 10 p.m. ET.
